Red Raiders in the NFL: Week 16
December 29, 2020 | Football
Hyder and Brooks continue to impress on the defensive side of the ball.
Mahomes and the Chiefs clinched the number one spot in the AFC after beating the Falcons, 17-14, on Sunday. Mahomes threw for 278 yards and two touchdowns on 24-of-44 passing while adding another 21 yards on the ground in three rushes. Mahomes still leads the NFL in passing yards with 4,740, is tied for second in passing touchdowns with 38 and is fourth in the league in quarterback rating with a 108.2.

Can flip the switch WHENEVER
Kerry Hyder Jr. – DL, San Francisco 49ers
Hyder recorded yet another sack for the 49ers in their 20-12 win over the Cardinals on Saturday. He now has a team-high 8.5 sacks on the season, which establishes a new career high.
Santa's not the only one with sacks.

That's a career-high 8.5 for @KerryhyderJR ??#SFvsAZ: https://t.co/EkXl0Ka68Q pic.twitter.com/Gw4Tt3SVGk
Kerry Hyder is already at his career high with 8.5. I think he's going to be a double-digit sack guy this season. This from an edge making $1.5 million who's said he's more at home playing on the inside — with no Bosa around to draw blockers.

Simply remarkable
Keke Coutee – WR, Houston Texans
Coutee recorded five catches for 54 yards in the Texans' 37-31 loss to the Bengals on Sunday. Since the coaching change in Houston, Coutee has emerged as one of the team's top receivers over the last six games with 25 catches for 299 yards and three touchdowns.

Danny Amendola – WR, Detroit Lions
Amendola hauled in five passes for 37 yards in the Lions' 47-7 loss to the Buccaneers on Saturday. The 12-year veteran is averaging the most yards per catch of his career this season (13.2). He is four yards away from the seventh 600-yard season of his career and five receptions away from eighth 50-catch season. He is also nearing career milestones in catches (592) and yards (5958).
Terence Steele – OL, Dallas Cowboys
Steele started again at right tackle for the Cowboys in their 37-17 win over the Eagles on Sunday. The Cowboys offensive line allowed quarterback Andy Dalton to throw for 377 yards and three touchdowns. Steele and the Cowboys are currently tied for first place in the NFC East and need a win next week to keep playoff hopes alive.
Cowboys have found an O-line grouping that's stuck. For first time this year, they are expected to start the same unit for three straight games: LT Brandon Knight, LG Connor Williams, C Joe Looney, RG Connor McGovern and RT Terence Steele.

Jordyn Brooks – LB, Seattle Seahawks
Brooks tied for the team-lead with eight tackles, including a career-high five solo tackles, and added a TFL in the Seahawks' 20-9 win over the Rams on Sunday. The TFL was his second of the season and helped complete a goal line stand for the Seahawks, who improved to 11-4 and have clinched the NFC West. Brooks now has 44 tackles on the season to rank eighth on a defense that gives up the fifth-fewest rushing yards in the league.

Jakeem Grant – WR, Miami Dolphins
Grant reeled in a season-high five catches for 43 yards in the Dolphins' 26-25 win over the Raiders on Saturday night. Grant injured his ankle in the third quarter and exited the game. He has already been ruled out for Week 17 against the Bills as the Dolphins look to clinch a playoff berth.

Cody Davis – S, New England Patriots
Davis recorded a season-high three tackles for the Patriots in their 38-9 loss to the Bills on Monday night. It was Davis's first appearance since Week 13, when he blocked a field goal against the Chargers that was returned for a touchdown.
Dakota Allen – LB, Jacksonville Jaguars
Allen played during the Jaguars' 41-17 loss to the Bears on Sunday, however he did not record a stat. The Jaguars are 1-14 on the season and are locked in with the No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Cameron Batson – WR, Tennessee Titans
Batson recorded one catch for 12 yards in the Titans' 40-14 loss to the Packers on Sunday night. The young slot receiver has caught passes in eight different games this year for the Titans, who can still clinch the AFC South with a win over Houston in Week 17 or an Indianapolis loss to Jacksonville.
Sam Eguavoen – LB, Miami Dolphins
Eguavoen did not record a stat in the Dolphins' 26-25 win over the Raiders on Saturday night. Eguavoen has made at least one tackle in seven games this season for the Dolphins, who can lock down a playoff spot with a win over the Bills next week.
Davis Webb – QB, Buffalo Bills
The Bills called Webb up from the practice squad for their matchup with New England, but Webb was inactive on Monday night. The Bills improved to 12-3 with a 38-9 win over the Patriots, locking up either the 2nd or 3rd seed in the AFC.
Davis Webb is inactive for tonight's game. Have to think his call up was a way of rewarding him for the work he's done this season with a game check. #Bills https://t.co/9YzYwLC3Ks

DeAndre Washington – RB, Miami Dolphins
Washington was inactive during the Dolphins' 26-25 win over the Raiders on Saturday night. Washington and the Dolphins can make the playoffs with a win over the Bills in Week 17.
Broderick Washington – DL, Baltimore Ravens
Washington was inactive during the Ravens' 27-13 win over the Giants on Sunday. Baltimore heads into the final week of the regular season needing a win over the Bengals or a loss by Cleveland or Indianapolis to make the playoffs.
HEAD COACHES
Kliff Kingsbury – Arizona Cardinals
Kingsbury and the Cardinals fell to 8-7 after suffering a 20-12 loss to the 49ers on Saturday. The Cardinals are on the outside looking in at the playoff picture right now, as they are currently eighth in the NFC.
Anthony Lynn – Los Angeles Chargers
Lynn and the Chargers won their third-straight game on Sunday, defeating the Broncos 19-16. Despite already being eliminated from the playoffs Lynn has his team playing hard in the final weeks of the season.
PRACTICE SQUADS/INJURED RESERVE
Antoine Wesley – WR, Baltimore Ravens
Branden Jackson – DE, Seattle Seahawks
Le'Raven Clark – OT, Indianapolis Colts
