Red Raiders Finish 7th at Amer Ari Intercollegiate

WAIKOLOA, Hawaii – Texas Tech senior Sandy Scott shot 5-under-par with a hole-in-one in the final round of the Amer Ari Intercollegiate to finish in 10th place for the Red Raiders who claimed seventh overall at the Waikoloa Kings' Course.
The Red Raiders finished the tournament with a 278-277-281 – 836 team score, while Pepperdine won the title with an 825 to edge out Texas (827), Arizona State (828), Oklahoma State (829) and Georgia Tech (830). Pepperdine's William Mouw won the tournament at 13-under and defeated Mason Anderson (Arizona State) in a playoff. Â
Scott came into the final round tied for 22nd before sprinting up the leaderboard on Saturday with six birdies and a hole-in-one on No. 15 (par 3, 163 yards). He finished the tournament at 9-under with a 68-72-67 – 207 scorecard to lead the Red Raiders in their first spring tournament of the season. Andy Lopez was just one stroke back of Scott, finishing at 8-under and in 14th individually. Lopez was at 3-under in the final round with six birdies and a final scorecard of 72-67-69 – 208.
Texas Tech freshman Ludvig Aberg finished the tournament at 6-under (66-68-76 – 210) for the first top-25 showing of his career. Aberg was in third place after the second round and fifth following the first round, but would fall back on Saturday with a bogey, double bogey and an eight on the par 4 No. 16 hole. He had three birdies in the final round to finish the tournament with 16 birdies. Fellow freshman Garrett Martin finished 44th overall with a 73-70-71 – 214, while Kyle Hogan shot 72-72-74 – 218 which put him 70th overall.
Playing as an individual, sophomore Markus Braadlie finished 18th with a 67-73-69 – 209 scorecard. Â

The Amer Ari Intercollegiate was the start of a six-tournament spring schedule that will lead into the Big 12 Championship on April 27-29 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Red Raiders will return from Hawaii to compete at The Prestige on Feb. 17-19 in Palm Springs, California.
