The Players' Journal | Wake-Up Call
April 15, 2020 | Softball
Well, we have been away from each other for about a month now. It definitely feels way longer than that when you're used to spending countless hours with the same 23 players and coaches every day. The Lord has continued to show me during this time of quarantine that He is the one in control. He has shown me this over the last two years as I've battled injuries, but He continues to prove that you should ALWAYS do everything like it's your last time because you never know when it could be… from every pitch, to every conversation you have, to every rep running or in the weight room (no matter how bad it may hurt at the moment lol), etc. These are all things that can easily be taken for granted if we aren't careful. I don't know what my future holds, but I do know who holds my future.
Isaiah 26:20 says, "Go home, my people, and lock your doors! Hide yourselves for a little while until the Lord's anger has passed." I think this outbreak should be a wake-up call for all of us to make sure we are being present and appreciating the little things in life.Â
Don't get me wrong, I miss it all – pitching, seeing my teammates succeed, cheering in the dugout, as well as traveling to so many cool places. We were supposed to be playing Oklahoma State and Oklahoma these next two weekends. As an Oklahoma girl, I was pretty upset because I was excited to be able to see my family and friends.Â
Aside from all the craziness going on in the world… I'm grateful because I've been able to take walks with my parents, do online workouts, play with my dogs more, watch church online, and the grandma of the team has even started making some TikToks. Stay safe and healthy, everyone!Â
