LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech director of tennis Todd Petty announced the signing of blue chip in-state standout Kailey Evans to a National Letter of Intent on Tuesday. Evans is set to suit up for the Lady Raiders in the fall of 2020.
Â
"I chose Texas Tech because of how much Todd (Petty) believes in me," Evans said. "I also really love how I felt at home with all of the girls. I can't wait to be a part of this team in the fall!"
Â
A native of Ennis, Texas, Evans has been ranked as high as No. 13 nationally in the class of 2020 by TennisRecruiting.net.
Â
"Kailey is a game changer for us," Petty said. "We can not be more excited to add such a great young lady to the family. She comes from a blue collar, hard working background and will fit right in with the culture we have here. She comes out of one the best academies in the country and has learned the game the right way.  She has proven herself to be one of the best juniors in the world and has so much more potential to grow with her game. I can not wait to get her here and start getting to work."
Â
Evans is one of the top players in the state of Texas, and is ranked sixth in the Gulf region. Evans is has racked up three wins over fellow blue chip recruits and is a combined 5-1 against four and five star players.
Â
The future Lady Raider boasts a Universal Tennis Rating of 11, and has reached as high as No. 3 in the TennisRPI.
Â
Evans is one of the top junior players in the world, currently ranked No. 178 in the world by the ITF and holding a career high ranking of No. 94.
