The Players' Journal: It Really Happened
April 22, 2020 | Softball
It happened. It really happened. The game we all love was taken away from us in the blink of an eye. Well, today marks 497 days without softball…...ok, I might have exaggerated a tad bit……but it really feels like it. Going from spending what seemed like every second of every day with the same 20ish people to not seeing them at all just hits different, let me tell you. I know everyone is struggling during this time, but my heart especially goes out to all the seniors.
Â
Speaking of seniors, this last weekend would have been our senior weekend, something I have looked forward to since the day I started my college career. It's just a time to recognize all the hard work and rewards that have come in return over the years. Many family members and friends were planning on making the trip to Lubbock to help celebrate. My dad even joked with me that he was going to slide into home plate when my name was called and it was our turn to walk across the field.
Â
Just like everyone else, I am not sure what my future holds at this point. I am not sure if I will get another chance to tie my yellow bow. I just know that I need to turn it all over to God and trust in Him with everything I have that He will lead me the right direction. He is the one thing that has actually kept me sane through all of this. My small-town church came up with the idea of a drive-up service so I am still able to attend a worship service every Sunday with my family. Even if we have to stay in our own car, it is such a good feeling to be able to worshiping "together" with our whole church community during this time.
Â
Keep practicing your social distancing skills and stay safe! And Wreck 'Em!!

Until then,
