If you would have told me one month ago that the whole world would be put on pause and a global pandemic would end our season, I would have told you that you were lying. Everything happened so fast and, in the first few weeks of being home, I was in denial. I felt like I was stuck in a bad dream.
Â
Three weeks later, here I am at home in April. Reality is finally starting to kick in and I catch myself thinking about softball, my teammates, my coaches and Lubbock just about every second of the day. Knowing we still had so much to prove to everyone is what hurts the most. On March 1, we said, "this is our month," and everyone bought into that. We flipped a switch and it was our time to prove everyone wrong. We were undefeated every game that we played in March and didn't have plans on stopping anytime soon.
Â
Going from spending every day with 23 of my closes friends to only being able to talk to them through a screen is tough, but it just goes to show how fast something we love can be taken away. I have learned a lot about myself during this time. One of those things being no matter how hard it gets, to never take for granted the fact that I get to play the sport I love, with the people I love, at the best university every single day. The other thing being, I am obsessed with Vampire Diaries and I am Team Stefan all the way! ?
Â
On a positive note, being able to be with my family during these tough times is nice. Home-cooked meals will always be my favorite. I hope everyone is staying safe and enjoying finding all of your secret hobbies/talents – I know I have. TikTok, running and Netflix have consumed most of my time while we are all quarantined.
Â
When the time is right, we will be back and ready to keep proving everyone wrong. Don't let the circumstances drag you down, come out of this faster, stronger and with such a positive outlook on life. Love you all and remember, you can still be on the bus and practice social distancing! ?
