Texas Tech Falls to No. 21 West Virginia on the Road

Tech returns home to face Kansas on Friday, Oct. 22, which will also be the Red Raiders' Senior Day
MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – The Texas Tech soccer team (10-4-2, 3-3-1 Big 12) fell to preseason Big 12 favorite and No. 21 West Virginia, 2-0, Sunday afternoon at the Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.

Both teams battled to a scoreless first half which saw Tech fire off three shots with one coming on goal as WVU (9-4-2, 3-2-1 Big 12) recorded seven with four on frame. Madison White kept the Mountaineers off the board with four saves, including a big early stop in the seventh minute inside the six-yard line.

Tech recorded eight shots with three coming on frame as WVU registered 14 with seven on frame. Kozarski led TTU with three shots (one on goal). In net, White secured five saves.Â

In the second half, WVU broke the tie in the 71st minute with a floating shot from the right side of the net that found the left corner for the 1-0 lead. From there, Gisselle Kozarski had an opportunity to level the game but was denied the chance towards the bottom left of the net. Continuing to look for the equalizer, Tech started to push more numbers at top, playing with two Red Raiders in the back. WVU made it 2-0 with 51 seconds left on a counter after an initial save from White.
