Soccer Preview: Texas Tech set to Host Oklahoma State Thursday Night

Tech welcomes Oklahoma State for its third Big 12 home game this season
LUBBOCK, Texas. – The Texas Tech soccer team welcomes Oklahoma State Thursday night for its fifth conference game of the year and third overall at the John Walker Soccer Complex this season.
Tech (9-3-1, 2-2-0) is coming off a pair of tough road losses to Baylor and Texas this past weekend. TTU fell to Baylor Thursday night, 3-2, before falling to Texas, 1-0, Sunday afternoon. Kirsten Davis scored once in the contest versus the Bears to bump her goal total to 11 this season – third in the nation, two goals away from the top spot. The goal was also the 42nd of her career, which put her second all-time in goals scored at Tech.
A pair of freshmen in Ashleigh Williams and Macy Blackburn have made an immediate impact on the pitch. Williams is second on the team with eight goals as Blackburn leads the Red Raiders in assists with eight.
Madison White has played each minute in goal this season, boasting a 0.76 GAA, to go along with seven shutouts.
Thursday night's contest is 'Pack the Pitch' night as tickets at the gate will be sold for $1. It will also serve as the team's 'Mental Health Awareness' game with student-athletes sporting green wristbands to help bring awareness to the cause. They will also be given away to fans.
Scouting Oklahoma State
The Cowgirls hold a 6-4-1 overall record, going 1-1-0 in Big 12 action. Nine different players have tallied a goal on offense led by Olyvia Dowell who has four goals and three assists. She also leads the squad in shots (29) and shots on goal (11).
Evie Vitalie has started all 11 games in goal and holds a 0.89 GAA with five clean sheets.
Team Captains
Davis and Cassie Hiatt are serving at team captains for the second straight season. A defender from Parker, Colorado, Hiatt has been a dominate player for the Red Raider defense for three seasons beginning with a Big 12 All-Freshman campaign to get started. Hiatt earned All-America honors as a sophomore along with All-Big 12 First Team. Davis, who was selected No. 13 in the NWSL College Draft, decided to return to school to play her fifth season at Texas Tech. She had 16 goals as a junior to earn Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and All-America honors.
Our Leader
A Dallas native who won a national championship as a player at Duke, Stone is in his 15th season leading the program after roles at Denver, Duke and Clemson. He has led the Red Raiders to seven NCAA Tournament appearances, including to the Sweet 16 in 2014. Tech won the 2015 Big 12 Tournament and has had eight double-digit win seasons under Stone's leadership.
Our Gold Medalist
Texas Tech welcomed Janine Beckie back to Lubbock on Saturday, August 14 after the former Red Raider helped lead Canada to the gold medal in Tokyo. Beckie, who is the all-time leading goal scorer in Tech history with 57, is currently playing professionally with Manchester City FC. Canada won the gold medal with a shootout win over Sweden in the championship game.
