Adams, Dugan, Kanas earn CoSIDA Academic All-District honors

Libero KJ Adams was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team for District 7 while Caitlin Dugan and Brooke Kanas were named to the Second Team.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Three Red Raiders garnered Academic All-District Team honors for District 7 the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday afternoon. Red Raider libero KJ Adams headlined the group, picking up a first team selection while Caitlin Dugan and Brooke Kanas each earned second team nods.
The 2021 Academic All-District Volleyball Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot, to be announced in mid-December.
Adams, a graduate student working on her master's degree in interdisciplinary studies, boasts a perfect 4.00 GPA in the classroom while averaging 4.55 digs per set on the court, the second most in the Big 12 this season. Adams has taken home Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week twice this season and was named Green Wave Invitational Defensive MVP in September.
Dugan is majoring in Wind Energy and boasts a 4.00 GPA in the classroom. She was recently named Academic All-Big 12 First Team for the second time in her career. Dugan has tallied 161 kills and picked up Red Raider Classic All-Tournament Team honors earlier this season.
Kanas, a senior majoring in Mechanical Engineering, holds a 3.54 GPA in the classroom while leading the Red Raiders in blocks (90) on the court. The three-time Academic All-Big 12 earner ranks fourth on the squad in kills with 166.
