Adams tabbed CoSIDA Academic All-American

KJ Adams becomes the seventh different CoSIDA Academic All-American in program history.
AUSTIN, Texas – KJ Adams became the seventh Red Raider in program history and the first since 2016 to earn College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic-All America honors the organization announced Wednesday.
The graduate student from Mont Belvieu, Texas earned All-America Third Team distinction after being named CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 First Team honors in November. It is the first Academic All-America honor of her career as she is one of 21 DI volleyball athletes to garner the award this season. She was one of eight Academic All-America members to boast a perfect 4.00 GPA.
Adams played a crucial part in the Red Raiders' run to the NCAA Tournament this season, finishing second in the Big 12 in digs per set (4.34) and first in total digs (485). Her 485 digs ranked sixth in program history for a single season, surpassing Kate Klepetka's 481 and six digs from tying Carlie Foust for fifth. She was twice named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week and recorded double-digit digs in 26 of 29 matches played with a career-high 30 against Kansas State on Oct. 27.
In the classroom, Adams earned a perfect 4.00 GPA in her first semester of graduate school at Tech. She graduated with her bachelor's degree in graphic design and advertising from Grand Canyon University where she played three seasons for the Lopes, earning WAC Libero of the Year in 2020 before transferring to Tech.
Adams joins Marguerite Grubb, Alicia Ostmeyer, Laura Grote, Kelly Johnson (twice), Melissa McGehee and Jill Burness as the only Red Raiders to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. She is one of four Big 12 volleyball players named to the team alongside Logan Eggleston (Texas) and Lacey Zerwas (WVU) who both earned third team accolades and Avery Skinner (Baylor) who garnered first team distinction.
