Red Raiders remain at No. 25 in national polls

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech is holding strong at No. 25 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll and USA TODAY Coaches Poll for the third straight week after earning a 32-point non-conference win over Eastern Washington in its only game last week.

The Red Raiders (9-2) were unranked in the preseason poll and for the first five polls before entering in Week 6 of the college basketball season. Tech is also at No. 22 in the most recent NCAA NET Rankings and No. 19 by Kenpom going into its game against Alabama State at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the United Supermarkets Arena.

Baylor (11-0) remains at No. 1 in the nation for the second straight week and is followed by No. 2 Duke (11-1), No. 3 Purdue (11-1), No. 4 Gonzaga (10-2) and No. 5 UCLA (8-1) in the top-5 of the AP Poll. The Big 12 is also represented by No. 6 Kansas (9-1), No. 8 Iowa State (12-0) and No. 17 Texas (9-2).

The Red Raiders are currently 1-2 against teams in the top-25 poll with a win over No. 14 Tennessee (9-2) and losses to Gonzaga and No. 21 Providence (11-1).
Tech was ranked throughout the 2020-21 season for the first time in program history, reaching as high as No. 7 before finishing at No. 21 last season.
