LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech baseball's Micah Dallas was named to the initial watch list for the 16th annual Stopper of the Year Award, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association announced Friday.
Dallas is one of 45 players, including four from the Big 12, on the initial list for the award, which is presented annually to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I Baseball.
It's the second time Dallas has been recognized by the NCBWA this week as he was one of three Red Raiders who collected preseason All-America honors from the organization, landing on their second team as a reliever.
Overall, Dallas was named to three preseason All-America teams heading into 2021 and also landed on the Preseason All-Big 12 Team.
The Aubrey, Texas, native is coming off a 2020 season where he was dynamite out of the bullpen, going 1-0 with three saves and a 0.57 ERA. He struck out 23 batters over 15.2 innings and allowed just one walk.
In 2019, Dallas received Freshman All-American honors as the Friday night starter for the Red Raiders. Tech finished the year 46-20, won the Big 12 Championship and was one of the last four teams standing at the College World Series.
Dallas will start out 2021 back in the weekend rotation when the No. 3 Red Raiders open the season at the College Baseball Showdown at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. He will take the mound on Sunday as the Red Raiders clash with No. 6 Ole Miss at 3 p.m.
