Red Raiders Head to Houston for the 62nd Ralph O’Connor Rice Invitational

LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 26 Texas Tech men's tennis team will travel to Houston this weekend to face Rice and Florida Atlantic in the 62nd Ralph O'Connor Rice Invitational at the George R. Brown Tennis Center. Tech will face the Owls of Rice on Friday at noon, and then face the Owls of Florida Atlantic on Saturday, also at noon.
The Red Raiders (8-2) are currently riding a six match win streak, most recently defeating No. 28 Oklahoma. Tech has been paced by the dominant play of current Big 12 Tennis Player of the Week (No. 93) Ilgiz Valiev. Valiez's current singles record sits at 8-1, and he is undefeated in his last seven matches.
Rice (7-6) touts an impressive 6-1 home court record, and is coming off back to back wins over Trinity and Texas A&M – Corpus Christi. Florida Atlantic (5-6) comes to the Ralph O'Connor Rice Invitational with wins over Stetson, Georgia Southern and South Alabama. The Owls are led by junior Maxime Lapraille who is currently ranked 122 in singles play.
