
Lady Raiders Drop Oklahoma State in Thriller

STILLWATER, Okla. – The Texas Tech women's tennis team snagged a big conference win on Friday night, edging No. 42 Oklahoma State, 4-3, at the Greenwood Tennis Center.

After snagging the doubles point, Texas Tech picked up three singles wins—including a match-clinching third-set tiebreaker for Metka Komac—to put the Cowgirls away.

The Lady Raiders opened the match with a 1-0 lead after earning victories on courts one and three. Lisa Mays and Kaitlin Staines got on the board first with a 6-3 win over No. 44 Ayumi Miyamoto and Bunyawi Thamchaiwat. Olivia Peet and Metka Komac clinched the point for Tech in a 7-6(3) defeat of Dariya Detkovskaya and Daniella Medvedeva on three.

After the Cowgirls evened the team score with a win on court two, Peet broke the tie and regained the lead for the Lady Raiders win a 6-3, 7-6 win on five. The win was Peet's third in a row and 10th overall singles win this season.

Margarita Skriabina would stretch the Lady Raider lead to 3-1 with her comeback win over No. 43 Alana Wolfberg on three. Skriabina moved to 14-0 in dual singles matches this season with her 1-6, 7-5, 6-1 triumph.

Following Skriabina's win, the Cowgirls were able to tally two more wins on courts one and four to tie the match back up at three apiece.

As the match was tied back up, Metka Komac had battled back from a third-set deficit to force a match-deciding tiebreaker on court six. Komac and Daniella Medvedeva went back and forth in the tiebreaker before Komac pulled away for the 10-8 win to seal her win as well as the Lady Raiders' victory.

Tech will be back in action on Sunday at 1 p.m., when they face No. 30 Oklahoma in Norman.
