Trio of Red Raiders in Top-10 at Aggie Invitational

BRYAN, Texas – A trio of Texas Tech men's golfers will go into the final round of the Aggie Invitational tied for 10th with Andy Lopez, Ludvig Aberg and Carl Didrik Meen Fosaas each at 2-over-par through two rounds at the Traditions Golf Club.
The No. 25 Red Raiders are tied with No. 30 Louisville for fifth at the 17-team event at 10-over in the team standings with No. 5 Texas leading the tournament at 1-under. No. 1 Oklahoma is in second at 2-over followed by No. 12 Texas A&M (6-over) and No. 36 Baylor (9-over) going into Sunday's final round. Tech shot even-par on Saturday which matched the Sooners for the second best score of the day, only behind Baylor which was at 1-under following Saturday's round.
Texas A&M's Sam Bennett leads the tournament at 6-under by posting 68-70 – 138 through two rounds of his home tournament, while Alexander Frances (Houston) and Pierceson Coody (Texas) are tied for second at 3-under.
Lopez turned in the top Red Raider round on Saturday by carding a 1-under, 71 following a 75 in the opening round on Friday. A senior from Plano, Lopez recorded two birdies (both on par 4s) and made only one bogey in his round. Lopez leads Tech with eight birdies through two rounds. Aberg remained consistent in the tournament with his second straight day of posting a 73 after making three birdies but then also four bogeys. Meen Fosaas is at 2-over following shooting even-par on Saturday with three birdies and three bogeys on his scorecard. He also competed this week at the DBU Men's Classic where he finished second overall at 6-under and now leads TTU with by making par on 26 of 36 holes of the Aggie Invite.
Texas Tech senior Kyle Hogan is only two shots back of his teammates after posting 76-72 – 148 through two days. Hogan, who is currently 22nd on the leaderboard, shot even-par on Saturday with two birdies and two bogeys on his card. Garrett Martin is in 53rd going into Sunday's round with a two-day card reading 78-76 – 154.
Baard Skogen is playing as an individual this weekend and is at 75-76 – 151 through two rounds. The Tech freshman made three birdies on Saturday, but would also post a triple, double and two bogeys to set himself back. Aberg, who is at No. 5 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, has recorded 24 pars and five birdies through 36 holes.
Texas Tech will return from Bryan-College Station to compete in its final regular-season tournament at the Thunderbird Collegiate on April 16-17 in Phoenix, Arizona before traveling to Kansas for the Big 12 Championship on April 26-28.
