LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech softball head coach Sami Ward announced the signing of Ranci Willis to the 2021 signing class on Wednesday.
"We are excited to add Ranci to the team," said Ward. "She emerged as a competitor who has flown under the radar. We expect her to help our pitching staff and our team when she steps on campus."
Willis, a pitcher from Corinth, Texas, joins the Red Raiders from Guyer High School in Denton where she helped her team to the 6A Regional Quarterfinals in 2019. She was named All-Area Newcomer in her sophomore season at Guyer helping her team to a 26-9 record, the best school finish since 2015. As a senior this spring, Willis broke the Guyer High School single-season strikeout record with over 200 strikeouts.
The six-foot right-hander plays travel ball for American Freedom National 18U, whom she helped to an eighth-place finish in the TFL Championships last fall. She has recorded a 1.44 ERA and 0.98 WHIP over 214 innings of work with her current travel ball team.
Ranci is the daughter of Steven and Tiffany Willis and has two older sisters, Abby and Lanee, as well as a younger sister, Gracie.
