Texas Tech Draws Oklahoma State in First Round of Big 12 Tennis Championships
April 23, 2021 | Men's Tennis
LUBBOCK, Texas - No. 21 Texas Tech men's tennis team heads to Waco for the Big 12 Tennis Championships to take on No. 22 Oklahoma State this Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Hurd Tennis Center.Â
Â
The Red Raiders (12-6, 1-4) are heading into the tournament looking to rebound from two recent losses to TCU and Texas. Tech will look to gain a spark from the exceptional play of No. 35 ranked doubles team, senior Parker Wynnand junior Franco Ribero who are coming off a win over Eliot Spizzirri and Siem Woldeab, the tenth ranked doubles team of Texas.
Â
The Cowboys (8-10, 1-4) ride into the matchup coming off a 4-2 win over in-state rival No. 19 Oklahoma.  Oklahoma State is paced by senior No. 53 Matej Vocel who helped defeat the Sooners by securing wins in both singles and doubles on court one.  Â
Â
The two squads squared off earlier this season in Oklahoma with the Red Raiders besting the Cowboys 4-3.  The win marked the first victory for the Red Raiders in Stillwater since 2014. Â
