Sanders Garners All-Big 12 Preseason Volleyball Honors

Samantha Sanders was the lone Red Raider named to the All-Big 12 Preseason Volleyball Team.
IRVING, Texas – Following an All-Big 12 Second Team performance in her first season as a Red Raider, fifth year senior outside hitter Samantha Sanders has been named to the 2021 All-Big 12 Preseason Volleyball Team the league announced Tuesday.
With Sanders earning 2021 honors, the Red Raiders have now landed a student-athlete on the preseason team each of the last seven seasons.
The Waco, Texas native burst onto the scene in her first year in Lubbock after spending the previous three seasons at Texas A&M, leading the Red Raiders in nearly every offensive category. Sanders finished the 2020 season ranked fifth in the Big 12 in kills (305) and kills per set (3.59), leading all Red Raiders and landing in the top-40 in the nation. She recorded nine double-doubles and posted double-digit kills in 17 of her 22 matches played including five matches with 20 or more kills.
Sanders picked up 2020 All-Big 12 Second Team and Academic All-Big 12 accolades for her performances on and off the court.
