Deaton, Jeffers to Attend Big 12 Media Days
July 08, 2021 | Football
Red Raiders will appear at Big 12 Media Days on July 15 from AT&T Stadium in Arlington
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech head coach Matt Wells has tabbed senior offensive lineman Dawson Deaton and senior linebacker Riko Jeffers to represent the Red Raiders at Big 12 Media Days on July 15.
Â
Wells and his two seniors will be part of the second day of the event, which returns to an in-person format this season at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, the site of the Big 12 Championship game. The Red Raiders will be joined that day by representatives from Baylor, Kansas, Oklahoma State and Texas. Â
Â
Big 12 Media Days serves as the unofficial kickoff to the 2021 campaign and represents a return to normalcy, of sorts, after the 2020 event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Wells and his two student-athlete representatives will meet with journalists from across the country throughout the day after mainly interacting through a Zoom chat the past 12 months.
Â
A complete schedule as well as television coverage options for Big 12 Media Days will be announced closer to the event. Texas Tech will have complete Media Days coverage throughout its stay in Arlington via @TexasTechFB on Twitter, @TexasTech_FB on Instagram and via Facebook.
Â
The Red Raiders will kick off preseason camp just over two weeks after departing Arlington as Texas Tech is slated to begin practices on Aug. 6 in anticipation for the Sept. 4 opener versus Houston.
