RED & BLACK RECAP: Red 3, Black 1

The Red team defeated the Black team 25-19, 23-25, 25-21, 25-15.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech volleyball wrapped up its preseason schedule with the annual Red and Black scrimmage Sunday evening at United Supermarkets Arena.
"It's always a great night when we play the Red and Black scrimmage and tonight's match was a lot of fun," said head coach Tony Graystone.
The red team, comprised of KJ Adams, Lindsey Dodson, Madison Gilliland, Camryn Specia, Kiari Gier, Kenna Sauer, Alex Kirby, Tatum Rohme, Brielle Sterns, Reagan Cooper and Karrington Jones, took the win in four sets.
Sauer came up just shy of a double-double with a match high 18 kills and nine digs for the red team. Cooper also tallied double-digit kills with 10 and added a couple of blocks. Gilliland was dominant at the net with six blocks. Kirby posted a double-double with 37 assists and 12 digs. Adams' 27 digs topped the scoresheet.
Alexandra Torres, Caitlin Dugan, Audrey Tuttle, Maddie Correa, Cadi Boyer, Reese Rhodes, Maddie O'Brien, Mackenzie Morgan, Brooke Kanas and Samantha Sanders made up the black team. Sanders led the black squad in kills with 14 and digs with 12. Rhodes recorded a double-double with a match high 38 assists while adding 10 digs.
"The level of play was solid and we saw plenty of things to be excited about," said Graystone. "We've got just a few more days to finish our pre-season training and we'll use what we learned this weekend to make sure we're ready to go on Friday."

The Red Raiders will hit the road to start the season with a trip to Knoxville, Tenn. for the Tennessee Classic. The tournament starts Friday, Aug. 27 with matches against East Tennessee State and Tennessee. Tech will face NC State on Saturday morning to close out the tournament.
