Adams Named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week

KJ Adams earned the first Big 12 weekly award of her career Tuesday.
IRVING, Texas – Texas Tech libero KJ Adams was awarded Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week, holding down the Red Raiders back row as Tech picked up three wins last week.
The graduate transfer from Grand Canyon earns the first Big 12 weekly award of her career after being named WAC Libero of the Year in 2020.
Adams totaled 65 digs over four matches, averaging five digs per set for the Red Raiders. She started off the week with 10 digs in Tech's sweep of Abilene Christian before putting up a season-best 23 digs in a four-set win over Texas State. Adams then matched her season-best with another 23 digs in a sweep of Rhode Island, averaging 7.67 digs per set against the Rams. She led the squad in digs in each of the four matches played over the week.
The Mont Belvieu, Texas native currently sits at first in the Big 12 in total digs (102) and third in digs per set (4.25). She has five matches with double-digit digs and three matches with 15 or more digs on the season.
