The indoor weekly honor is the second of Usoro’s career
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech track and field jumps specialist Ruth Usoro was named the Big 12 Female Athlete of the Week, the league announced Thursday afternoon.
Usoro took home first in the long jump event at the Corky Classic with a leap of 6.48m (21-3.25). The senior's first jump would stand as the top mark as she would go on to make one more attempt. That mark leads the Big 12 and is second in the NCAA, only behind Florida's Jasmine Moore's mark of 6.58m (21-7.25).
The weekly honor was also shared with Kansas' Rylee Anderson.
Texas Tech is back in action tomorrow morning in the Red Raider Open.
