10 Red Raiders named to All-Big 12 Academic Team

LUBBOCK, Texas – A total of 10 Texas Tech volleyball student-athletes earned a spot on the Academic All-Big 12 team the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon. Nine Red Raiders were named to the First Team, while one Red Raider made the Second Team.
Making the First Team were KJ Adams, Maddie Correa, Caitlin Dugan, Madison Gilliland, Brooke Kanas, Maddie O'Brien, Reese Rhodes, Kenna Sauer and Alex Torres, while Reagan Cooper was named to the Second Team.
Texas Tech tied Iowa State with nine First Team selections, which is second among all Big 12 volleyball teams behind Kansas' 11 first teamers. The Red Raiders were also just behind the league leaders Kansas volleyball (11) and Iowa State volleyball (11), with 10 total honorees.
In addition, Texas Tech football (41) and Texas Tech soccer (17) each led or co-led their respective sports in number of honorees. Texas Tech also combined for a Conference-best 82 honorees over the five sports.
There were 642 total student-athletes recognized in the 2022 Fall Academic All-Big 12 Team, which honors the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at Conference institutions who participate in fall sports. The sports included for the fall season are men's cross country (67), women's cross country (75), football (306), soccer (132) and volleyball (62).
First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
