LUBBOCK, Texas – For the second-consecutive season, KJ Adams was named a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American as she claimed a spot on the Third Team announced by the organization on Wednesday morning.
Adams is the seventh Red Raider to earn CoSIDA Academic All-American honors and the first since Laura Grote (2002-04) to claim back-to-back selections. The Red Raider is also one of six student-athletes on the list to earn repeat honors in two-straight seasons.
The Mont Belvieu, Texas native played in 28 of the 29 matches for the Red Raiders this season, ranking third on the team in digs, aces and with 12 double-digit dig performances. Adams tallied a season-best 29 digs against Oklahoma on November 9, while adding another season-high five aces in the Red Raiders' sweep of the Kansas Jayhawks on November 25. She concluded the season with 260 digs (2.52 digs per set), 77 assists and 19 aces.
In the classroom, Adams maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA and graduated this December with a master's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. In addition, Adams is one of three Big 12 volleyball honorees as she joins Logan Eggleston (Texas – First Team) and Alexis Engelbrecht (Iowa State – Third Team) to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America distinctions.
