
Tech rolls past Kansas State

Led by Metka Komac and Margarita Skriabina Tech swept K-State
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Texas Tech women's tennis program recorded its first Big 12 Conference victory of the season Friday afternoon, defeating the Kansas State Wildcats 4-0 at the Body First Indoor Tennis Center.
With the victory, Texas Tech (9-6, 1-2 Big 12) has now won back-to-back matches.
Tech got off to a strong start on Friday, as Avelina Sayfetdinova and Kailey Evans set the tone with a 6-2 doubles victory. After K-State took a 6-3 decision on court three, Tech turned to Cristina Tiglea and Margarita Skriabina who won a tiebreaker to seal the doubles point.
Riding the momentum from doubles play, Skriabina closed a straight-sets two and three victory on court one to give Tech a 2-0 lead.
Sayfetdinova also completed a perfect afternoon when she recorded a three-set victory on court three. After winning the opening set 6-2, Sayfetdinova rebounded from a 6-3 setback to take the third set 6-3.
Needing just one point to clinch the victory, Tech turned Metka Komac who cruised to a pair of 6-1 victories to seal the win.
