No. 5 Red Raiders return with two days in Florida

LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 5-ranked Texas Tech men's golf team returns to competition next week at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational at the Floridian Golf Club in Palm City, Florida.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament begins on Monday with 54 holes before the final round on Tuesday for the 15-team field. Tech is coming off a runner-up finish at the Cabo Collegiate in its last tournament back on March 1 and also have a runner-up showing at the Amer Ari in Hawaii on its spring resume.
The Red Raiders will be represented at the tournament by Ludvig Aberg, Baard Skogen, Kyle Hogan, Sandy Scott and Calum Scott. The tournament is the first for Sandy Scott since an injury at the 2021 Maridoe Collegiate Invite. A two-time All-American, Sandy's scoring averages of 70.2 in the 2018-19 season and 70.5 (2019-20) are the second and third best in program history. Along with his collegiate career, Sandy Scott has played in the Walker Cup and the U.S. Open.
Aberg remains at No. 3 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and has one title this season, winning The Prestige in California for the second straight season. He is currently No. 15 in the Golfweek ratings. A junior from Sweden, Aberg is on the Ben Hogan Award Watch List and is coming off a fifth-place finish at the Cabo Collegiate in the previous tournament. Skogen is ranked No. 8 in the Golfweek rankings and has recorded a pair of runner-up finishes this season, first at the Maridoe in the fall and then at the Amer Ari in Hawaii. A sophomore from Norway, Skogen is No. 21 in the Golfweek rankings.
As a team, Tech is currently at No. 5 in the Golfstat rankings, No. 6 in the Golfweek ratings and at No. 8 in the most recent Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll.
Texas Tech will be competing against Houston, Arizona State, Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Marquette, Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio State, Pepperdine, South Florida, Texas A&M, Southern Cal and Wake Forest at the tournament in Florida. The course is set to be played at a par-71 on a 7,114-yard track.
The Red Raiders return from Florida to play in the Aggie Invitational from April 9-10 in Bryan before playing their final regular-season even at the Thunderbird Collegiate on April 15-16 in Phoenix. The events lead into the Big 12 Championship in Trinity, Texas from April 25-27 before the NCAA Tournament.
