Lady Raiders close regular season at No. 5 Baylor

Tech and Baylor will tip at 2 p.m. Sunday
WACO, Texas – The Texas Tech Lady Raiders head to Waco Sunday afternoon to clash with No. 5 Baylor. Tip-off from the Ferrell Center is set for 2 p.m.
The Lady Raiders (11-17, 4-13 Big 12) head to Waco with momentum following Wednesday's 83-79 senior night victory over TCU. With the victory Wednesday and by virtue of Saturday's Oklahoma State loss, Texas Tech has clinched the No. 8 seed for next week's Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Championship.
Tech will face the Cowgirls of Oklahoma State Thursday night at 5:30 p.m.

Powered by a combined 47 points and 22 rebounds from its seniors, the Texas Tech Lady Raiders downed TCU 83-79 on senior night Wednesday at United Supermarkets Arena.
In what can only be described simply as a thriller, Texas Tech (11-17, 4-13 Big 12) outscored TCU in the final period 26-22.
Senior All-American Vivian Gray was dominate once again, as the forward poured in 27 points on just 18 total shots. Gray, was 9-for-18 from the field, and also added a team-best nine rebounds. With her performance, Gray reached the 20-point plateau for the seventh time in eight games.
Classmate Lexy Hightower was also key for the Lady Raiders, as the West Texas A&M transfer scored 13 points and added five rebounds. Hightower was 5-of-6 from the line, including a pair that sealed the deal with less than a second to play.
Junior forward Ella Tofaeono also has a career-night for the Lady Raiders, as the Australian scored 15 points on perfect 7-of-7 shooting in just 22 minutes. The seven made fields goals were a new career-high.
The fourth Lady Raider to finish in double figures was freshman Rhyle McKinney who scored 12 points on 4-of-9 shooting. McKinney was also 4-of-6 from the
line including two important fourth quarter free throws.
With the victory, the Lady Raiders snapped a three-game losing streak overall and a four-game home losing streak. Tech's victory tonight, was its 11th of the season, surpassing the 2020-21 win total.
SCOUTING THE BEARS:
Under the direction of first-year head coach Nicki Collen (replaced Kim Mukley who left for LSU) Baylor is 24-5 and 14-3 in Big 12 play. The Bears have already clinched at least a share of the B12 title by virtue of their 25-point win at No. 9 ISU Monday. The title is Baylor's 12th consecutive title, the most in both men's and women's college basketball. In that game, NaLyssa Smith scored 28 points on 11-of-15 shooting and grabbed 20 rebounds. For the season, Smith is averaging 21.8 points and 11.7 rebounds. In total four Baylor players are averaging in double-figures including Alabama transfer Jordan Lewis (12.1 PPG) and Sarah Andrews (11.8 PPG, 40.4 3-pt). Queen Egbo is the fourth Bear in double-figures. Egbo has scored 11.1 points and grabbed nearly nine rebounds a game. Baylor has won nine games in-a-row and 14 of 15 overall.
