LUBBOCK, Texas – No. 20 Texas Tech will begin its final test prior to the Big 12 Championships on Monday when the Red Raiders tee off at the Bruzzy Challenge in Fort Worth. The two-day, 54-hole tournament will be played this week at the Waterchase Golf Club.
Despite being the final event prior to the conference tournament, the Bruzzy Challenge will have a strong Big 12-feel with eight league schools among the 13-team field. Texas Tech is the third-highest ranked team in the field, which also features No. 4 Oklahoma State, No. 19 Baylor and No. 29 TCU as well as fellow conference foes No. 38 Iowa State, No. 48 Oklahoma, Kansas and Kansas State.
The Red Raiders have played in each of the three Bruzzy Challenge events in its history, finishing as high as the runner-up behind Oklahoma State a year ago. Texas Tech also turned in a third-place finish in 2019 when the event was hosted at the Maridoe Golf Club. This is the first year the tournament has moved to the 6,277 yard Waterchase Golf Club in Fort Worth.
Texas Tech will utilize the same lineup it used this past week in its home match play event as head coach JoJo Robertson will send senior Amy Taylor, junior Anna Dong, sophomore Gala Dumez and freshmen Chiara Horder and Kylee Loewe. Fellow junior Cecilie Nielsen will also compete in the competitive field as an individual.
That lineup proved successful this past week in the Red Raider match play event hosted at The Rawls Course where Texas Tech finished 2-1 overall as the tournament runner-up. The Red Raiders managed victories over both Oklahoma and Oklahoma State to start the tournament before falling to Tulsa in Monday's finale.
Texas Tech is slated for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start both Monday and Tuesday. Live scoring will be provided on www.Golfstat.com.
