Red Raiders ranked seventh in latest poll

The Red Raiders will split their time between Florida and California this week
NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Texas Tech track and field team come in ranked No. 7 in the third installment of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll released Monday afternoon.
Both teams last week were ranked No. 4. This past weekend, Tech sent a limited group up the road to West Texas A&M for the Jo Meaker Classic. One of the highlights of the two-day meet was Cole Whatley winning his first-ever decathlon he competed in – Whatley totaled 7,031 points.
The Red Raiders will be split in two different locations this week as most of the distance and jumps group travel to California for the Mt. Sac Relays. Meanwhile, the sprinters, pole vaulters, throwers, and mid-distance crew head to Florida for the Tom Jones Memorial.
