LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech softball head coach Craig Snider has added Morgan Klaevemann and Peter Suarez to his charter coaching staff with the Red Raiders.
Tech's incoming director of operations, Suarez served as Director of Player and Program Development last season at Texas A&M. The Florida State graduate arrived at A&M after spending four seasons as the Director of Softball Operations at Iowa State (2017-21).
Suarez graduated magna cum laude from Florida State in 2014 with his degree in sport management. While at FSU, he served as a student manager for the Seminoles softball program.
"Pete is one of the hardest-working coaches I've been around," Snider said. "Not only does he bring a wealth of knowledge to our staff, he brings culture. Pete will pour his heart and soul into our program and these players will feel that."
Snider's other hire, Klaevemann, will serve as the program's volunteer assistant. She arrives in West Texas after spending the last two seasons working in the College Station area. Klaevemann spent a season working for the Bomber's Fastpitch as an under-14 head coach and served as the assistant general manager at D-BAT Aggieland and the vice president of internal operations and director of scouting for High & Inside. In addition, Klaevemann also worked Texas A&M's softball camps in 2021.
A 2018 graduate of Florida State, Klaevemann concluded her Seminoles career ranked inside the all-time top-10 of four different categories, including batting average (.361 – fourth), stolen bases (126 – fourth), runs (193 – fifth) and walks (123 – fifth). A three-time first team All-ACC selection, Klaevemann also was named an NFCA second team All-American during her Florida State career.
Klaevemann finished her career in Tallahassee by winning the 2018 National Championship for an FSU program that featured Snider as an assistant.
"Morgan was one of the best outfielders and slappers in college softball," Snider said. "She brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to our staff. Our team will love working with her."
Suarez and Klaevemann join Paige Cassady, who was tabbed as pitching coach back on July 12.
