Tech travels to Waco for ITA Regional Tournament

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Lady Raiders are heading to Waco, Texas for the ITA Texas Regional Tournament on Oct. 12-16. Tech is sending all nine players to the tournament with main draw doubles and qualifying singles starting on Thursday, Oct. 12.
The Lady Raiders competed in two tournaments last week to open the fall season. First, Texas Tech competed at the ACU Invitational where multiple Lady Raiders took home titles. Both Andreea Lila and Arina Oreshchenkova went 3-0 in singles to win their flights.
Then, the duo of Oreshchenkova and Camryn Stepp and the duo of Lila and Jermine Sherif all went undefeated to claim their flights. The Lady Raiders picked up a whopping 14 total victories during this tournament.
At the ITA All-American Championships, sophomore Yekaterina Dmitrichenko led the Lady Raiders with two ranked singles wins. Senior Metka Komac also recorded a ranked singles win, while advancing to the second round of the doubles main draw with Avelina Sayfetdinova as the pair defeated a duo from Tennessee.
In addition, junior Cristina Tiglea tallied a singles win in the pre-qualifying draw, and both Tiglea and Mariya Polishchuk recorded a doubles victory over an Arizona State tandem in the qualifying doubles draw.
