Cherubet, Kiplimo shine in Ames Saturday morning

Juliet Cherubet and Gideon Kiplimo collected All-Big 12 honors
AMES, Iowa – Juliet Cherubet paced the women's cross country team with a third-place individual finish as Gideon Kiplimo led the men's side coming in 12th at the Big 12 Championships Saturday morning at the ISU Cross Country Course.

The men's team scored 171 points for a fifth-place team finish while the women scored 240 points finishing ninth.
Cherubet became the first Tech women's cross country runner to finish in the top-3 at Big 12s since Rose Tanui finished third in 2011 as Tech also claimed the top finisher in Carolina Jepleting. The freshman stayed at the front of the pack throughout the entire race, taking the lead a one point at the 3k mark.

Kiplimo crossed the finish line with a personal best time of 23:17.70. Vincent Koech (23:51.80) was TTU's second scorer coming in 29th as Isaac Hernandez (24:21.90) finished 43rd with Edward Rush (24:29.30) and Samuel Ashley (24:40.10) placing 49th and 59th, respectively, to cap off the scoring. Ashley recorded a new personal best time.
Cherubet and Kiplimo each received All-Big 12 individual honors placing inside the top-15.

Her final time clocked in at 19:43.40, just a little over one second shy of second place. Meanwhile, Anastasia Chepkorir (20:34.7) placed 23rd, Taylor Limbaugh (22:14.90) finished 76th as Halena Rahmaan (22:25.0) and Melanie Jacobs (22:27.90) rounded out Tech's five scorers coming in 84th and 88th, respectively.The gloves have been tossed!
