Tackitt earns NCAA Graduate Scholarship

Tackitt joined the Red Raiders as freshman in 2020
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech pole vaulter Sarah Tackitt has been named a recipient of the prestigious NCAA Women's Enhancement Graduate Scholarship, Texas Tech Athletics announced Thursday.
The NCAA awards $10,000 to 13 female college graduates who will be entering their initial year of graduate studies. Recipients must be seeking admission or have been accepted into a sports administration or program that will help them obtain a career in intercollegiate athletics.
Tackitt is a Lubbock product who joined the Red Raider pole vault group in 2020 upon her graduation from Frenship High. A 2021 Big 12 outdoor finalist, Tackitt holds a personal best height of 4.07m (13- 4 ¼) both indoors and outdoors.
"What a tremendous honor for Sarah to receive the NCAA Women's Enhancement Graduate Scholarship!" said Director of track & field and cross country Wes Kittley. "Sarah is so deserving of this award. She's balanced athletics and academics well and represents truly what a student-athlete is."
Tackitt, who boasts a 3.90 grade-point average, is on track to graduate in May with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology, along with two minors in Psychology and Human Development and Family Sciences. Soon after, she will enroll into the Occupational Therapy program at the Texas Tech University Health and Sciences Center.
"I am really excited for Sarah earning this scholarship," said pole vault coach Tom Slagle. "I've been coaching Sarah since she was in my club in eighth grade and have been able to watch her grow in so many ways over the last nine years. She works very hard in every aspect of her life and exemplifies everything you could ask for in a Red Raider athlete."

- Applicants must have performed with distinction as a student body member at their respective undergraduate institution. The applicant's involvement in extracurricular activities, course work, commitment to pursuing a career in intercollegiate athletics and promise for success in such a career will be considered.
