NORMAN, Okla. – The Texas Tech men's golf program is tied for third among the crowded leaderboard following Day Two of the Norman Regional hosted by the University of Oklahoma at the Jimmie Austin Golf Club.
After enjoying the 18 hole lead after firing a team score of 278 (-10) on Monday, the Red Raiders shot a more modest 287 (-1) on Tuesday afternoon.
In total, the top-five teams on the leaderboard are separated by just five shots, with the top-six separated by seven shots.
As he has been all season, senior Ludvig Aberg was the star of the show, carding another bogey free round. After opening with a 67 yesterday, Aberg (-9) fired a 68 on Tuesday to leap frog Drew Goodman of Oklahoma (-8) and Nick Dunlap of Alabama (-7).
Dating back to last month's Big 12 Championship where he set the all-time three round, four round and to-par records, Aberg has now played his last 39 holes without a bogey. The seniors stroke average now sits a stingy 68.5 for the season.
Ahead of tomorrow's third and final round the Red Raiders sit tied for third place with the University of Colorado at -11 for the week.
Alabama used a back-nine charge on Tuesday to open up at two shot lead at -15 overall, while Oklahoma sits just two shots back at -13.
Tech and Colorado enjoy a share of third place at -11, while North Florida sits just one shot back at -10, in the coveted fifth and final advancing spot on the leaderboard.
Duke sits two shots behind UNF at -8, followed by LSU (-4), No. 20 Ole Miss (-3), Wake Forest (-1) and Kansas (+1).
UNCW (+2), Louisiana (+13) and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (+44) round out the 14-team field.
Much like the team title, the individual medalist leaderboard is tight, as four players are within three shots of Aberg.
