LUBBOCK, Texas – Honors continue to roll in for Ellie Bailey and Kailey Wyckoff as the duo was named to the NFCA All-Central Region Third Team, the organization announced Thursday.
Â
Ellie Bailey earns her second consecutive nod from the NFCA after being a second-team selection a year ago. The first baseman earned All-Big 12 First Team honors after batting at a .336 clip with eight doubles, 16 home runs and 43 RBIs. Her 16 home runs etched her name into fourth in Tech's single-season home run record.
Â
Kailey Wyckoff's freshman campaign is capped off by the third-team selection. She was named the 2023 Big 12 Freshman of the Year, an All-Big 12 Second Team selection and an unanimous All-Big 12 Freshman Team selection.
Â
Her .393 batting average ranks fifth in Tech's single-season program record while her .740 slugging percentage ranks fourth and her 111 total bases and 15 doubles rank seventh.
Â
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with first, second and third-team selections. NFCA member head coaches from each respective region nominated student-athletes and voted for the teams. All awarded student-athletes now become eligible for the 2022 NFCA Division I All-America squads.
