Tech tabbed fifth in Big 12 Preseason poll

The 14-team preseason coaches poll dropped Thursday
IRVING, Texas – Ahead of the start of the 2023 season, the Texas Tech women's soccer team has been picked fifth in the Preseason Big 12 Conference poll, the league announced Thursday morning.
Newcomer and 13th-ranked BYU was the coaches pick to win the league, earning 156 total points. No. 9 TCU finished just one point behind BYU (155), followed closely by Texas (152).
BYU earned six of the 14 first place votes, while Texas (5) and TCU (3) earned the remaining eight.
2022 Big 12 Tournament champions West Virginia checked in at fourth, earning 132 total points. Fifth place Tech earned 117 points, followed by UCF (115) and Oklahoma State (100). Kansas (83), Oklahoma (68), Houston (47), Baylor (43), Kansas State (41), Cincinnati (36) and Iowa State (29).
The Red Raiders open the 2023 season on Friday afternoon with an exhibition match at Denver University. First kick from Colorado is set for 3 p.m. (CT).
