Reese's Senior Bowl targeting 11 Red Raiders
August 23, 2023 | Football
MOBILE, Ala. – Eleven Red Raiders were revealed as part of the 11th Annual Reese's Senior Bowl Watch List, the organization announced on Wednesday. The Reese's Senior Bowl is widely regarded as the preeminent college football all-star game and the first stage in the NFL Draft process, and its scouting team has identified its initial group of eligible 2024 NFL Draft prospects.
The 11 from Texas Tech are as follows (in alphabetical order): RB Tahj Brooks, OLB Myles Cole, TE Baylor Cupp, DL Jaylon Hutchings, OLB Steve Linton, DB Tyler Owens, WR Myles Price, OL Caleb Rogers, QB Tyler Shough, OL Rusty Staats and DB Dadrion Taylor-Demerson.
Texas Tech was among a group of 23 programs in the nation identified with 11 or more players on the 2023 watch list. Joining the Red Raiders from that group from the Big 12 was Texas and TCU.
The list unveiled on Wednesday includes all players who are 2019 high school graduates or true four-year players (with five or more games played in three previous seasons). The list does not include true or redshirt juniors. In total, all 720 position players (non-specialists) who were named to the list on Wednesday were evaluated by the Senior Bowl staff and tape-based grades were logged on hundreds of other senior prospects.
All 11 from the Texas Tech contingent own a wealth of experience as the group owns a combined 198 starts in their careers and will be cornerstones in 2023.
Former Red Raiders who have been named to the official roster for the annual game in recent history and moved forward into the professional ranks include OLB Tyree Wilson (2022), RB SaRodorick Thompson Jr. (2022), OL Jack Anderson (2020), LB Jordyn Brooks (2019), OL Terence Steele (2019), Broderick Washington Jr. (OL), RB DeAndre Washington (2015) and OL Le'Raven Clark (2015). Six of the eight heard their respective name called during the NFL Draft.
