Red Raiders in the NFL: Kickoff Weekend

LUBBOCK, Texas – Rosters for the 2023 NFL season's Kickoff Weekend are set and will feature 15 former Texas Tech players, according to the NFL roster database as of Monday afternoon, heading toward the league's first game on Thursday night. Â
Seven former players are currently on active 53-man rosters for week one while four are listed on the injured reserve or physically unable to perform list. Four earned their way onto practice squads. Â
The season is set to kick off this Thursday at 7:20 p.m. CT and will feature none other than Texas Tech Ring of Honor member and Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes as Kansas City hosts Detroit on NBC. Â
On Sunday at Noon, Broderick Washington and the Ravens welcome the Texans to Baltimore. Also at Noon, Kerry Hyder Jr. and the 49ers head to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers.Â
At 3:25 p.m. this Sunday, fans can watch three former Red Raiders. Las Vegas and its 2023 first-round pick Tyree Wilson will head to Denver to take on the Broncos. Former stand-out receiver Erik Ezukanma and the Dolphins are headed out west to face the Chargers while linebacker Jordyn Brooks and the Seahawks open the season with a home game against the Rams.Â
Offensive lineman Terrence Steele, who recently signed a five-year contract with the Cowboys will be featured in primetime, playing in the Sunday Night football game against the Giants at 7:20 p.m.Â
