Hampton named Best Pitching Prospect in South Atlantic League

LUBBOCK, Texas – Just one week after cracking the MLB Prospects Top 100, former Texas Tech hurler Chase Hampton was named the Top Pitching Prospect in the South Atlantic Tuesday by Baseball America.

The No. 53 prospect in all of baseball according to the publication, Hampton was tabbed the top pitcher in High-A after pitching to a 2.68 ERA in 47 innings before being called up to AA Somerset.

On the season, Hampton is 4-3 with a 3.63 ERA, and has struck out 145 batters in 106.2 innings pitched between the two levels.

A sixth-round selection out of Texas Tech in the 2022 MLB Draft, Hampton is currently ranked as the No. 2 prospect in the entire Yankees system and their top pitcher.
