Tech tabbed sixth in Big 12 Preseason Poll

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech softball program was picked sixth out of 10 in the 2024 Big 12 Preseason Coaches Poll which was announced on Wednesday and voted on by the head coaches in the conference. Craig Snider enters his second season at the helm of the program, returning 17 players from last year's team.
This season is the first to have three new teams represented in the conference with the addition of BYU, Houston and UCF. The Oklahoma Sooners were picked to win the Big 12 with nine first place votes and 81 total points. Texas was the only other team to receive a first-place vote to go along with 73 points followed by Oklahoma State (third), Baylor (fourth), UCF (fifth), Texas Tech (sixth), BYU (seventh), Kansas (eighth), Iowa State (ninth) and Houston (10th).
The Red Raiders finished tied with Kansas last season with a 5-13 record in league play before dropping a heartbreaker to Texas in extra innings at the Big 12 Championships.
The league's preseason awards will be released on Thursday, also voted on by the head coaches.
