Adeshina breaks Tech’s high jump record

Adeshina is the first Tech female high jumper to clear the 6-3 mark
LUBBOCK, Texas – In her second meet of the season, freshman Temitope Adeshina smashed Texas Tech's indoor high jump record ultimately clearing 1.96m (6-5) Friday night at the Sports Performance Center.
Adeshina began to turn heads as she recorded a new season-best of 1.85m (6-0.25) on her fourth jump. She would miss her first attempt at 1.88m (6-2) but clear it on the second, bringing her just one centimeter away from the school record.
On her next attempt of 1.91m (6-3.25), Adeshina would clear on her first try, becoming Tech's new record holder, breaking Zarriea Willis' 2018 mark of 1.89m (6-2.25). Her next height was 1.96m (6-5) and with two misses in the books, Adeshina cleared on her final attempt to cap off her extraordinary night.

In the process, Adeshina now holds the NCAA and world lead as her final clearance tied the No. 3 all-time NCAA mark. Before tonight, no other Tech female high jumper had cleared the 6-3 mark.
