It's the first career weekly national honor for both Cherubet and Kipchoge.
In the women's 6k race at the Arturo Barrios, Cherubet ran past the field of nearly 400 runners with a first place time of 18:37.0, winning by 24 seconds. In the process, she smashed the 2023 course record of 18:58.20 set by Parker Valby. In three races this season, Cherubet has posted two wins and one second place outing (Joe Piane Invite).
Over on the men's side, Kipchoge – in only his second meet of the season – claimed the race by 19 seconds over teammate Cheruiyot with an 8k time of 22:01.40, setting a new course record. The Texas Tech men won the team title scoring 62 points, thanks to a 1-2-7-11-41.
With only two races this season for Kipchoge, both of them have been victories.
