LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Lady Raiders women's tennis team has signed Blue Chip Recruit out of Dallas, Texas, Ella Brownback, to the 2025-26 roster announced by head coach Adam Herendeen on Wednesday morning.
"We are so excited to have Ella joining our team next year! Being from West Texas, she already understands what it means to be a Red Raider and it shows in her work ethic and commitment," Herendeen said. "We look forward to her having a big impact on our team, on and off the court, from her first day on campus!"
Brownback, who trains at Brookhaven Tennis Academy in Dallas, is the No. 38-ranked recruit in the class of 2025 and the No. 4-ranked recruit out of the Lone Star State. In her career, Brownback has recorded 14 wins over other 5-star recruits and 17 against other 4-star players.
Among her many career accomplishments, Brownback was crowned the Rome Level 2 National Champion, swept both the mixed and girls doubles titles at a Level 3 doubles and mixed doubles tournament and was an ITA Masters Series finalist. As a finalist, Brownback was able to qualify for the ITA National Summer Championship in August 2024 thanks to the points she accumulated in tournaments over the summer. Â
At the Level 2 tournament in Rome, Ga., Brownback opened the competition with a straight-set win over 5-seeded My-Anh Holmes, 6-1, 6-2. She won the next round even more decisively with a 6-1, 6-1 score against Reagan Mulberry before taking down Sarah Ye, 6-3, 7-5, in the quarterfinals. Brownback continued to dominate at the tournament, picking up a semifinal victory over Sabrina Jaramillo, 6-2, 6-2, then overtaking top-seeded Katiana Gonzalez, 7-5, 6-2, to win the title without ever dropping a set. In addition, Brownback advanced to the doubles quarterfinals at the same tournament.
In early October, Brownback made it to the third-round at J60 Corpus Christi, highlighted by a win over ITF Junior No. 484 Ireland O'Brien, 6-2, 6-2. At the same tournament, she was a doubles semifinalist with partner Elena Mireles. The duo would defeat three other pairs en route to a semifinal appearance. In 2023, Brownback won the Level 4 Open in Louisville, Ky., after recording six singles victories and not dropping a set.
