Pair of Red Raiders open indoor season in Boston

Saturday marks the beginning of the indoor track and field season around the country
LUBBOCK, Texas – A pair of Red Raiders in Anastasia Chepkorir and Nathan Kapel open their respective indoor track seasons Saturday afternoon competing in the Sharon Colyear-Danville at the Boston Track and Tennis Center.
Each Tech distance runner will be slated to go in the 5k, with the women's race beginning at 3:45 p.m. and the men's race at 5:45 p.m.
Chepkorir and Kapel wrapped up their cross country seasons last month at the NCAA Mountain Region meet. Chepkorir, who returns for her sophomore season, was Tech's No. 2/3 cross country runner this season, while newcomer Kapel (SFA transfer) was a solid top-run runner for the men's side.
Chepkorir holds a personal best time of 16:20.32 in the 5k as Kapel will be running the event for the first time indoors.
The rest of the entire Tech team will open the indoor season at home in the annual Corky Classic (Jan. 17-18) inside the Sports Performance Center.
