Texas Tech programs rank inside the top-5

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Texas Tech track and field program has both of its teams ranked inside the top-5 in the week four rankings released by the USTFCCCA Monday afternoon. The men stayed at No.1 for a fourth-straight week, while the women jumped seven spots to No. 5.

The women's team got a huge boost in the rankings this weekend thanks to Rosemary Chukwuma and Success Umukoro in the 60m. Both of them now rank inside the top-6 as Chukwuma holds the country's No. 3 time (7.12) as Uumukoro ranks No. 6 at 7.17.

Temitope Adeshina, who did not compete this weekend, lost her No. 1 spot in the high jump to Texas A&M's Lamara Distin who leaped 1.97m (6-5 ½).

TTU is off this week before getting back to action next weekend for the Big 12 Indoor Championships (Feb. 23-24) in Lubbock at the Sports Performance Center.

Following this past weekend at home, Tech now boasts two national leaders on the men's side with Terrence Jones in the 60m (6.47) and Caleb Dean in the 60m hurdles (7.55). Overall, TTU holds five national top-5 marks and 10 national top-10 marks. Meanwhile, the women's team has one national leader in Ruta Lasmane when it comes to the triple jump with her mark of 13.97m (45-10).
