Tech in 10th after 36 holes at The Bruzzy

Texas Tech returned to action for the first time in over a month with the opening two rounds of The Bruzzy at Dornick Hills Country Club on Saturday.
ARDMORE, Okla. – The Texas Tech women's golf team returned to action for the first time in over a month as they kicked off The Bruzzy with the opening two rounds contested at Dornick Hills Country Club on Saturday. Following rounds of 292 (+12) and 300 (+20), the Red Raiders find themselves in 10th place out of 13 teams entering Sunday's final round.
In round one, the Red Raiders were led by Lauren Zaretsky and Kylee Loewe, who both fired a 2-over-par 72 to open the tournament. The pair each recorded three birdies in the opening round, highlighted by Loewe's back-to-back birdies on holes three and four, as they each sat tied for 14th place out of 72 players following the first 18 holes. The other two round-one scores countable toward Tech's team total came from Gala Dumez and Klara Hurtova, who each recorded a 4-over-par 74.Â
Following round one, the Red Raiders sat in fifth place on the team leaderboard, just seven strokes behind Arkansas, the round one leader.
Zaretsky led the way for Tech in round two, firing a team-low 4-over-par 74. She finished Saturday 6-over-par after the first 36 holes and tied for 26th place. Loewe followed her strong opening round with a 5-over-par 75 to conclude the second round at 7-over-par and tied for 30th place.Â
Tech's other second-round scores countable toward the team total were recorded by Dumez and Cameron Freund. Freund fired a 5-over-par 75 in round two, concluding her day at 10-over-par and tied for 45th place entering Sunday's final round. Freund's seven birdies through the first two rounds are tied for the third most among the field of 72 players. Dumez recorded a 6-over-par 76 in the second round, ending the day at 10-over-par and tied for 45th place as well.
The Red Raiders will look to finish strong at the Bruzzy with round three set to begin at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday at Dornick Hills Country Club.
