STILLWATER, Oklahoma – The Red Raiders (26-16, 6-12) fell to No. 6 Oklahoma State (39-8, 16-5) by a score of 6-4 on Sunday afternoon. Abbie Orrick sparked the Red Raider's offense in the fourth inning with a two-run homer as she finished the day 2-for-3.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Â
The Cowgirls picked up where they left off on Saturday as they jumped out to an early 6-0 lead after scoring one in the first, two in the second and three in the third.
Â
Maddy Wright came into the circle in relief and allowed just three hits through 3.0 shutout innings to keep Tech within striking distance.
Â
Raegan Jennings opened up the fourth inning with a double and Orrick sent her home with her eighth homer of the season to cut into the Cowgirls lead.
Â
In the fifth inning, Arriana Villa launched a double with two outs and Riley Love brought her in with a single through the left side to make it a 6-3 game.
Â
The Red Raiders added another run in the sixth inning after Orrick hit a double to right-center field which set up a Carson Armijo RBI single.
Â
Wright and the defense continued to shut down the Cowgirls and give Tech a chance as they had the go-ahead run at the plate after Villa reached on an error and Demi Elder singled into left.
Â
Tech wasn't able to get the runs across in the seventh though as No. 6 Oklahoma State secured the sweep.
