Lady Raiders travel to Abilene for the ACU Invitational

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Lady Raiders are set to compete at the ACU Invitational on Sept. 27-29 in Abilene, Texas.
The three Lady Raiders heading to ACU are Elena Daskalova, Mariia Hlahola, and Arina Oreshchenkova. This will be Tech's third collegiate tournament of the fall season after competing at both the Furman Fall Classic and the ITA All-American Championships.
In the Furman tournament, the Lady Raiders won two flights in doubles when Avelina Sayfetdinova and Hlahola earned the flight one title and Andreea Lila and Sherif claimed the flight three title.
Some key results from that tournament included Daskalova posting a double bagel over Clemson's Kinsey Crawford, 6-0, 6-0. Daskalova also competed in doubles with teammate Oreshchenkova as they defeated Clemson's Crawford and Sophie Clayton by a 6-3 score.
Hlahola picked up a comeback victory in singles over Mississippi State's Gianna Oboniye, 2-6, 7-5, 6-1. Oreshchenkova made it to her singles flight finals with victories against Mississippi State's Carolina Troiana, 7-5, 6-4, and Alabama's Sara Nayar, 6-3, 1-6, 7-5.
Texas Tech is one of eight teams competing in the tournament, including ACU, SMU, UTSA, Texas State, UTEP, Tarleton and New Mexico State. Singles will be played at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. each day, followed by doubles beginning at 2 p.m.
