
Softball adds former All-American to coaching staff

Kayla Kowalik hired to complete coaching staff for Gerry Glasco
LUBBOCK, Texas – Gerry Glasco announced the hiring of former NFCA All-American Kayla Kowalik to the coaching staff.
A New Braunfels native, Kowalik played for Kentucky from 2019-23 was named to an All-SEC Team three times including an All-American selection in 2021. She was apart of Team USA in the 2022 Japan All-Star Series and 2022 Canada Cup and left the Wildcats as the all-time leader in hits, triples, runs and total bases.
"We are super excited to add Kayla to our staff," said Glasco. "She was an amazing player that is nationally recognized for her softball accomplishments and of course is a Texas native."
Most recently, Kowalik has been playing in the Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball League where she played in 14 games, hitting .333 with 14 hits.
"Kayla will work with our slappers and speed players on offense and will be in charge of our catchers on the defensive side of the ball," Glasco said. "She will also be invaluable as we continue to recruit at the highest levels possible in order to compete for national championships.
