Tech softball receives highest ever ranking ahead of 2025 season
LUBBOCK, Texas – Softball America released its 2025 Preseason Top 25 Poll on Monday morning. The poll has Texas Tech ranked No. 9 in the country, the highest ranking in program history.
The Red Raiders were ranked as high as No. 10 back in 2019, but this is the first time they have ever been in single-digit rankings.
Tech boasted the No. 1 transfer portal class and No. 2 freshmen class in the country while having the reigning National Player of the Year, NiJaree Canady, who was ranked the No. 1 player in the country heading into the 2025 season by Softball America.
Mihyia Davis also received some recognition coming in at No. 66 on that list, while freshmen Hailey Toney and Samantha Lincoln were tabbed to D1Softball's D100 Freshman Watch List.
